Lufthansa Airlines launched its Miles & More loyalty program back in 1993, and now it couldn’t be more popular with over 25 million members. We’re proud to have been a part of that story. The key to success has been generating enthusiasm amongst its admittedly time-pressured employees, and energizing them to tout the program. As they had for many years, Lufthansa turned to SMS to make their newest campaign take flight.

A prominent, privately held real estate investment company looked to 33D to create an impactful way to drive new residents to their high-end retail centers jointly located near their Fashion Island, The Marketplace and Irvine Spectrum Center properties.
We developed a dynamic, response-driven DM piece that created resident added-value and doubled as a property welcome kit. And by activating the gift certificate offer at the shopping centers, 33D was able to track redemption by each retail center and tie it back to each new mover. This critical database component laid the foundation for identifying customer profiles by center through demographic & psychographic characteristics.
In the first month of the annual program, we received a 2.9% response rate, which exceeded the client’s early expectations. All told, the final results reached 6% gift certificate redemption

Known for “leading innovation” in excess of 150 years, Toshiba is a highly successful Global 100 provider of advanced systems, products and solutions. One of their latest creations—a new cloud-based Virtual Desktop Service (VDS)—freed professionals to be more agile and productive by giving them access to the applications they need—anywhere, and from any device.
Amid the hyper-competitive tech market, it was critical to quickly educate, motivate and generate trial for this product among IT executives. SMS eagerly took up the challenge.

When powerhouse LG released their new G4 smart phone, they were up against challenging marketplace competition. Samsung, Motorola, Google and Apple all launched some bold new devices but LG was determined to stand out from the clutter — and to do that, they had to find the one angle consumers couldn't resist: FREE STUFF.
But developing a program, promoting it with finesse and capturing both loyal and new buyers was no easy task. LG needed to engage with think-tank quality brains, technological maestros, creative masters and logistics warriors to take it from the starting gate to the finish line. So, they did. They turned to SMS.
We strategized to develop the promotion and the offer's key communication points. After collaborating on messaging, we built and managed a seamless microsite that was fully integrated with the LG website to promote G4s.
Microsite Details: Our super smart tech staff managed the back-end administration of the microsite, making sure the input and tracking functionality flowed smoothly; consumer-facing communications were on strategy and problem-free; and the overall online experience progressed without a hitch. And, the functionality worked to not only facilitate the program, but also gather survey information on customers' purchase behavior and preferences. Other key actions included:
Supporting Materials: Our creative and print production squad developed and produced artwork and messaging to cohesively integrate with LG's promotional branding and went out to all consumers who purchased the G4 model.
Fulfillment: Our crew closed the loop to ensure the promotional materials were meticulously packaged and delivered directly to participants. By leveraging our full capabilities through both SMS divisions, all aspects of the promotion were successfully executed.
The promotion was an overwhelming success. Phone sales increased and over a quarter of a million consumers filed for rebate redemptions.
SCE Communities for Conservation Case Study Strategic Analysis; Overall Program Development; Creative; Multichannel Direct Marketing; Print Production; Website Development
Southern Californians tend to consider themselves fairly energy-aware. Yet studies showed a gap between perception and a true energy-efficient lifestyle. SCE was in a prime position to shift consumer behavior, and part of a joint effort to do just that—the Communities for Conservation program, which aimed to get apartment complexes to cut electricity, natural gas and water usage up to 20% through a healthy competition.
Even with this great program on deck, SCE was struggling for compelling ways to reach out and engage customers. It was a big challenge. But nothing’s too big for SMS—SCE’s go-to “resource” and boutique agency of record.
Because changing behavior is always hard, and the program goals were so ambitious, SMS knew an initial hard-hitting recruitment drive was key to success. Unleashing our own boundless creative energy, we went to work crafting a series of attention-grabbing components that included:

As one of the leading creators and innovators of licensed pop culture products, Funko looked to 33 Degrees to help leverage their mission to offer tangible ways for customers to take their fandom offline. And with launch of Warner Bros and DC’s newest release, stocking retail shelves with collectible merch was Funko’s #1 goal.
33 Degrees worked with key partners to leverage the retail channel and create one-of-a-kind displays that had stopping power. Working with the likes of Walmart, we created a highly functional space with flexible executions for multiple store formats. What’s more, the experience was extended throughout the store across multiple footpaths to enhance the shopper experience and facilitate sales.
March Madness Lead Generation
As a leading software automation company, Kofax turned to 33 Degrees for clutter-breaking creative ideas and steadfast distribution knowhow to generate customer engagement. With a portfolio of proven industry solutions, Kofax needed an entrée into key decision makers.
33 Degrees went to work creating a quick-turn lead generation program that allowed Kofax to interrupt prospects’ routines with timely sports-themed kits that primed sales appointments and stimulate trial. We created a bi-monthly program that kept the sales pipeline continuously fed and allowed reps to tap into higher-propensity targets who were familiar with both the brand, their specific software product and demonstrable ROI with this program, Kofax garnered a 34% sales lift.
National Lampoon Holiday Promotion
As an exclusive distributor to the franchise’s merchandising arm, Everstar’s peak sales period nests squarely in the coveted holiday season. Vying for consumer attention, they turned to 33 Degrees to create an impactful retail experience.
We worked with key retailers including Bed Bath & Beyond to create a dedicated space inside the stores to showcase product. Next, we developed eye-grabbing displays, complete with real home holidays lights, to stop consumers in their tracks.
We not only strategized with Everstar to develop this unique holiday shopping program but also designed, produced, kitted/assembled and distributed the displays nationwide. All with a double-digit lift to Everstar’s Q4 bottom line.
